FlyBet Withdrawal: why FICA document tiers change above R25,000

Not every withdrawal needs the same paperwork. Here's what changes at higher amounts, and why the bank itself adds a delay separate from FICA review.

Document tiers

What FICA documents withdrawal actually requires

A base FICA check needs only two items: a South African ID or passport, and a proof of residential address dated within the last three months, such as a utility bill or bank statement. Once a withdrawal request exceeds roughly R25,000, or the bank account name doesn't exactly match the account holder's registered name, operators typically require an additional proof of banking, a stamped bank confirmation letter or a recent statement showing the account number and branch code.

Larger or repeated high-value withdrawals can also trigger a source-of-funds request, covering the last three months of payslips or bank statements showing salary credits, pension statements, or dividend certificates, separate from the identity documents already submitted at signup.

Bank-side timing

Why the bank adds its own delay on top

Once an operator approves a withdrawal, the payout still has to clear as a standard interbank EFT, and South African banks apply a same-day cut-off, usually between 14:00 and 16:00. A request submitted before that window can settle the same or next business day; one submitted after it slips into the following business day's processing batch, adding time the operator has no control over.

Same-bank transfers, where the withdrawal destination bank matches the operator's payout bank, typically post within minutes rather than days, which is why some players report far faster payouts than others using the identical operator and identical documents.

When to act

When a withdrawal issue needs escalation

If a withdrawal sits beyond the combined operator-review and bank-clearing window without a clear reason, requesting a written status update naming the specific document or check still outstanding is more effective than repeated generic follow-ups, since it forces a concrete answer rather than a rolling "still under review" response.
